TTC RACING TODAY, DESPITE EIGHT INCHES OF RAIN

DESPITE receiving more than eight inches of rain over the last week – including over 155ml in the last 72 hours – Clifford Park will race a seven-race card this afternoon. The TTC was forced to abandon last Saturday night’s meeting when more than three inches of torrential rain fell around half an hour before the first race.

TTC Chairman Kent Woodford said he was thrilled the club had been able to successfully negotiate a new meeting date – within days of the rain-abandoned meeting – with both Racing Queensland and Sky Racing.

“Our track is quite unique in how much rain and water it can withstand. The StrathAyr turf system we have in place has performed incredibly well.

“Queensland Racing & Integrity Commission (QRIC) Stewards walked the track this morning and have deemed it a soft 7 and ready for racing this afternoon.”

Mr Woodford also heaped praise on Clifford Park Racecourse Manager David Morrison.

“The track underwent a full renovation during late December and January, it’s bounced back beautifully thanks to Dave and his team.

“We are thrilled to be racing today when many clubs across Queensland and New South Wales have been forced to either abandon or postpone their meetings. Good luck to all trainers, jockeys and connections today at Clifford Park,” Mr Woodford said.
