INTERNAL APPOINTMENT MADE

TOOWOOMBA Turf Club has announced Lizzy King as the Club’s new Chief Executive Officer.

Ms King was an internal appointment to the role after the club following a highly-competitive recruitment process. The club received many high-calibre applicants.

Mr Woodford said Ms King, who has worked as the Club’s Business Development and Marketing Manager for almost four years, was the “best-placed” to lead the club into the future.

“Lizzy King had performed exceptionally in her role. Her passion, existing professional relationships with our corporate and industry stakeholders and deep understanding of how our club operates made Lizzy the stand-out applicant.

“The Management Committee looks forward to working more closely with Lizzy in the coming years as she succeeds as our CEO, which we are highly confident she will.”

Ms King said she was thrilled and humbled by the appointment.

“I’m excited for this new challenge and am honoured to take on the CEO role. The Toowoomba Turf Club has a rich, proud history in Toowoomba and I’m thrilled to work with the TTC Management Committee to ensure a strong future.

“I’ve been overwhelmed by the support and encouragement I’ve received from the board and outgoing CEO.

“The Club has seen some significant changes over the past 12 months, including the announcement of the shift for Weetwood to Spring 2020, the new management committee, and facility improvements – all of which are key steps to a bright future.

“I look forward to working with the committee, staff and Members to ensure the club’s full potential is accomplished.”

Ms King assumes the CEO role effective immediately, taking the reins from former Chief Executive Blair Odgers.

Mr Woodford said he expected the transition of management to be smooth.

“I will take this opportunity to thank Blair for his service over five years and wish he and his family the best with their new opportunity at the Pakenham Racing Club,” Mr Woodford said.
