CLIFFORD PARK PLAYS HOST TO RECORD NUMBER OF RACES
CLIFFORD Park will play host to a record eleven-race-card this Sunday.
Toowoomba Turf Club Chairman Kent Woodford said he couldn’t recall Clifford Park ever hosting a meeting with that many races.
“What a great piece of news for our local stakeholders and racing lovers in these trying times,” Mr Woodford said.
“Considering the drastic changes made to horse racing since the breakout of COVID-19, it’s a testament to how resilient our sport is.”
TTC Chief Executive Officer Lizzy King said the club was delighted with the large nominations earlier this week for the scheduled eight races this Sunday.
“The strong nominations enabled Racing Queensland to split several races to accommodate as many runners as possible, which ended up with the TTC hosting a record 11 races this Sunday.
“We believe this Sunday will be a record for the TTC. We’ve had a couple of 10-race cards previously like Weetwood, but 11 is fantastic for the club and racing in Queensland,” Ms King said.
The TTC was also bestowed the news on Thursday morning of an extra race meeting scheduled for Easter Saturday, April 11. Racing Queensland confirmed the meeting would be a six-race-card twilight meeting.
