What to Expect
A raceday at Clifford Park is relaxed, social and full of moments that build throughout the day or evening. Whether it’s your first visit or you’re a regular, here’s how to make the most of the experience.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll be welcomed by our friendly staff at the gates. If it’s your first time, or you’re not sure where to head, just ask. Our team is happy to point you towards great viewing spots, food and drink options, or what’s happening around the course.
Take a moment to orient yourself, soak up the atmosphere and plan where you’d like to watch the racing.
Most race meetings at Clifford Park feature around seven races, with approximately 30 minutes between each race. Start times can vary, so it’s always best to check the race day schedule before you arrive.
That gap between races is all part of the fun, time to grab a drink, place a bet, catch up with friends or move to a new viewing spot.
Before each race, the horses parade in the mounting yard, giving racegoers the chance to see them up close. It’s a great way to appreciate the athleticism of these incredible animals and feel the anticipation build before they head out onto the track.
From there, wander to the grandstand, lawn or rail to watch the race unfold.
Clifford Park is designed to be explored. Between races, take a stroll through the grounds, check out the bar and seating areas, and find your favourite place to watch the action.
Each viewing area offers a slightly different perspective, from elevated grandstand views to the energy of the front lawn.
You don’t need to place a bet to enjoy a day at the races, but having a small wager can add to the excitement. TAB facilities are available on course, and staff can help explain betting options if you’re new.
Always remember, bet responsibly and only what you’re comfortable with.
Mix it up throughout the day. Watch one race from the grandstand, the next from the lawn, and another near the finish post. Seeing the races from different locations gives you a fresh perspective every time.
After each race, head towards the Winners’ Enclosure to see the winning horse return and enjoy the post-race celebrations. It’s a great way to feel part of the story behind each race.
Win or lose, a raceday at Clifford Park is about more than the result. It’s about atmosphere, excitement, great company and sharing moments trackside, all wrapped into an experience that builds from the first race to the last.
