A Message from the Chairman
Dear Members & Guests,
A quick update from the team at Clifford Park as we look forward to kicking off the 2026 racing season.
Membership renewals are now due, and we encourage all members to renew as soon as possible to continue enjoying the benefits of the Club. Your membership gives you free admission to all regular race meetings, plus entry to King of the Mountain and Weetwood race days.
You’ll also receive exclusive discounts on food and beverage throughout the season. If you haven’t received your renewal form (or it’s been misplaced), please contact the office and we’ll be happy to send another.
Following our last race meeting on 4 January, the annual renovation of the course proper has now been completed bringing our track back to peak condition. The track is looking fantastic and we’re ready to resume racing this weekend on Saturday 7 February.
The team are busy prepping for the Sub-Zero Airconditioning King of the Mountain on the Toowoomba Show Holiday, Friday 27 March. The King of the Mountain will be run as an Open Handicap this year, alongside two feature races: the $125,000 Toowoomba Truck Spares Pat O’Shea Plate for 2-year-olds, and the $50,000 Queensland Country Guineas for 3-year-olds, with QTIS bonuses also available.
We welcome Sub-Zero Airconditioning as our 2026 naming rights sponsor, and thank our major event partners:
- Florence & Marabel Collections
- Hit FM
- Queensland Tourism
- Racing Queensland
It’s shaping up to be another outstanding evening of racing and entertainment. Tickets are on sale now through Oztix and we recommend securing yours early to avoid missing out.
As shared in my December letter to members, the recently released Queensland Racing Review has outlined several key reforms across all code, with 2 several important outcomes for the Toowoomba Turf Club, the 2 most significant being the much-needed replacement of our broadcast lighting infrastructure, and the return of Harness Racing to Clifford Park.
The timeframe for implementation of these projects is not yet confirmed, however the Racing Queensland has committed to finalising a delivery plan by April. For the Toowoomba Turf Club, our clear priority is to see the replacement of our broadcast lighting infrastructure delivered as soon as possible to secure the future of night racing. As more information comes to hand on these 2 key developments, we will let you know.
Regarding the replacement of the synthetic training track, while final design and tender processes are still progressing, we’re continuing to work closely with Racing Queensland to ensure this upgrade remains a priority and not merged into the longer dated racing review implementation timeline.
Thank you all for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you at Clifford Park again soon.
Kind Regards,
Jason Ward
