The Toowoomba Turf Club
Our History
For more than 160 years, Clifford Park has been the beating heart of racing on the Darling Downs. Established in 1861 and home to the Toowoomba Turf Club since 1882, our racecourse has grown into a vibrant community hub where racing tradition meets modern innovation.
Our Early Racing Origins
The first organised races held in 1862 at what was then known as the Drayton and Toowoomba Racecourse.
Guided By Local Pioneers
Influential early settlers such as James Taylor helped establish the foundations of the Toowoomba Turf Club.
A Living Heritage Landmark
From its early timber structures to the iconic 1926 grandstand, Clifford Park has continually evolved alongside the city. Today, it stands as a proud link to Toowoomba’s sporting heritage.
