What the Clifford Park Track Offers for Racing

Clifford Park is a left-handed (anti-clockwise) turf circuit with a large overall circumference and broad, sweeping turns. The shape of the track allows horses to travel smoothly through the bends, helping maintain rhythm and balance rather than forcing abrupt changes of direction.

The wide turns and flowing layout reduce sharp cornering pressure, encouraging even tempo and allowing runners to settle into stride. This configuration supports fair, competitive racing, with positioning and timing playing a greater role than any single racing pattern.

A long home straight provides horses with the opportunity to balance and finish their races, particularly when rail placements are adjusted to manage wear across the surface.

As with all racecourses, how the track performs on any given day is influenced by rail position, weather and surface condition, with official track ratings, rail placements and race-day reports published ahead of each meeting by Racing Queensland.
