WEETWOOD ON TRACK FOR SUCCESS

THOUSANDS of racing enthusiasts are expected to flow through the gates of Clifford Park this Saturday for the 2018 Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood.

The event, featuring three Black Type Races – the Listed Audi Centre Toowoomba Weetwood Handicap, the UBET Toowoomba Cup and the Moore Trailers Toowoomba Guineas – will be complimented by six other feature races.

Toowoomba Turf Club Chief Executive Officer Blair Odgers is optimistic about a successful race event.

“The momentum and excitement for the event is really strong. All indicators are that we’ll have a wonderful race day.

“General admission pre-sale tickets are up 15% on 2017 comparative sales a week out.

“Our new reserved packages have been well received. The Event Group Toowoomba Birdcage, on the Dalrello Deck, has sold out; and our Gold Class Grandstand package is nearing capacity.

“Ticket sales in the VIP Audi Centre Toowoomba dining package are 13% ahead of sales at this point in 2017 and we’re confident the renovations in the new Clive Berghofer Grande Atrium will be well received on the day.”

Mr Odgers is also eager for fine weather on the day and day’s lead-up to the event for associated Weetwood Week events – such as the all-important Barrier Draw (Wed, April 4 – The Walton Stores, 11am) and the UBET Calcutta Sportsman’s Lunch (Fri, April 6 – Clifford Park Clive Berghofer Grande Atrium).

“The week’s weather forecast looks exceptional and we’re hopeful that the sunshine will remain for Saturday as forecast.”
