FEMININE TOUCH FOR NEW-LOOK TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB COMMITTEE

The Toowoomba Turf Club has today announced a ground-breaking strategic move. The committee has, this week, appointed whom they believe to be the first-ever female committee member.

Long-time racing enthusiast Lisa Frappell was appointed to a casual committee position at Tuesday’s monthly committee meeting.

Mrs Frappell has an intricate knowledge of the thoroughbred racing industry, having grown up around racing, now working alongside her husband and in-laws at Clear Mountain Fairview Stud, at Greenmount.

“I have a great passion for the industry and want to see it thrive through my work with the Toowoomba Turf Club committee,” Mrs Frappell, a mother-of-two, said.

TTC Chairman Kent Woodford welcomed Mrs Frappell’s appointment.

“The TTC is moving with the times and we feel that what Lisa will bring to the committee and the club will be invaluable,” Mr Woodford said.

A further exciting casual committee appointment was also made recently, with former Diamantina Shire Mayor, Robert Dare, appointed.

Mr Dare left Channel Country to move to Toowoomba recently and TTC Chairman Kent Woodford said the club was excited to welcome him.

“Robert has a long history with horse racing in Queensland and beyond, it’s a pleasure to have him as part of our committee.

“It’s a changing of the guard at the TTC and we’re excited to see what the future holds for our beloved club,” Mr Woodford said.

Mrs Frappell and Mr Dare will serve as casual committee members until the TTC’s annual general meeting in October, when they may be elected to the committee for a three-year term.
